General Education Scholarships

  1. Salem Community College Scholarships (14)
    • Up to 12 credits (tuition only) for fall and spring semesters
    • 2.5 cumulative GPA / evidence of strong academic potential required
    • Salem County resident
  2. SCC Foundation General Education Scholarship (1)
    • Up to $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Must be enrolled in a degree/certificate program
    • Demonstrated record of academic excellence
  3. Ann C. Campbell Scholarship (1)
    • $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Returning adult/nontraditional student
  4. John and Emilie Carpenter Scholarship (1)
    • Up to $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Must maintain good academic standing
  5. Sol and Jean Davidow Scholarships (2)
    • 15 credits (tuition only) for fall semester and
    • 15 credits (tuition only) for spring semester
    • Must maintain full-time status
    • Demonstrated record of academic excellence
  6. Herbert C. Donaghay Scholarship (1)
    • $500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Full-time student who has completed at least 30 college credits with a demonstrated record of excellence
  7. James Howard Farris Scholarship (1)
    • $500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Salem County Resident
    • Student must be an orphan, foster child and/or adopted
  8. Simon Fried Scholarship (1)
    • $500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Developmental-level student with strong academic potential preferred
  9. Mr. & Mrs. Eugene H. Yerkes Scholarship (1)
    • Up to $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Must maintain good academic standing

Academic Major Scholarships

  1. Sheila Bernstein Business Scholarship (1)
    • $750 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Must be enrolled in a business degree/certificate program
    • Second-year student with demonstrated record of academic excellence
  2. Richard L. Harris Charleston Scholarship (1)
    • $500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Second-year business major intending to go
      into his/her own business
    • Low-income family
    • Salem City resident (first choice) or Salem County resident
    • Student may receive this scholarship only once
  3. Chemglass Inc. Scholarship (1)
    • $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Second-year scientific glass technology student
    • Member of American Scientific Glassblowers Society
    • Demonstrated record of academic excellence
  4. Charles Dana Foundation Scholarship (1)
    • $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Full-time scientific glass technology or glass art student
  5. Fralinger Engineering Scholarship (1)
    • $1,000 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Preference given to student who intends to pursue a career in Engineering or CADD
  6. Thomas Poland Nursing Scholarships (2)
    • Up to 15 credits (tuition only) for fall semester and 15 credits (tuition only) for spring semester
    • Accepted into Practical Nursing program’s clinical portion
    • Record of academic excellence
  7. Salem County Police Chiefs Association Scholarship (1)
    • $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Salem County resident
    • Criminal justice major who has completed at least one year of study
    • 3.0 cumulative GPA or higher
  8. Salem Health and Wellness Foundation Scholarships (varies)
    • Up to $2,000 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Nursing or Allied Health major
    • Salem County resident
  9. Paul and Patricia Stankard Glass Scholarship (1)
    • $2,500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Full-time glass art student
    • New Jersey resident
  10. Salem City Rotary Scholarship (1)
    • $500 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Demonstrated academic excellence
    • Salem City resident or Salem High School graduate
  11. Salem County Historical Society Scholarship (1)
    • $500 (tuition or textbooks) per academic year
    • Salem County resident
    • First-year student; graduate from a Salem County high school, Class of 2008
    • One-page essay required, demonstrating student is goal-oriented, motivated and deserving of special recognition.
  12. Verizon Communications Scholarship (1)
    • $1,250 (tuition only) per academic year
    • Second-year student, high academic performance with an interest in technology

Specialty Scholarships

  1. Lauren Rose Albert Foundation Book Grants (10 per semester)
    • $250 per semester
    • Priority given to single mothers
    • Student must be custodial parent
    • Student must be employed full- or part-time
    • Demonstrated financial need
    • Additional application must be completed (available in Student Services)
  2. Alumni Association Book Grants (3 per semester)
    • $100 per semester
    • Assistance for books and required class materials (The application deadline for the fall semester is July 27, and December 10 for the spring semester. Please pick up an application in the Financial Aid Office.)
  3. Athletic Talent Grants (number varies)
    • Up to 12 credits (tuition only) per semester
    • Must maintain an acceptable GPA
    • Call Athletics Director at 856-351-2717 for an application
    • Must complete financial aid application before the amount of the Talent Grant Award is determined
  4. Virginia Bachman Grant (1)
    • $100
    • Assistance for books and required class materials
  5. Arlene Kelley Book Grant (1)
    • $100 per semester
    • Assistance for books and required class materials (Please pick up an application in Student Services.)
