Hand-Blown Glass Beads
Blown borosilicate glass beads are one of the hottest new bead techniques being used today. Hollow glass beads are much lighter in weight allowing the strung pieces to be larger and not uncomfortable for the wearer. Participants practice glass blowing techniques and explore color, shape and pattern applications. The workshop is designed for beginners and intermediate skilled flameworkers who are interested in glass art as a hobby or a possible vocation. All materials and equipment are provided.
Even More Glass Beads
This workshop -- ideal for beginners to intermediate glass bead enthusiasts -- focuses on making beads from Italian Moretti colored glass rods, known for their rich colors and great working qualities. The workshop includes techniques such as applying dots, using stringers and murini, and encasing flowers. All materials and equipment are provided.
Study in Nature
This workshop -- ideal for beginner to intermediate flameworkers who are interested in glass art as a hobby or a possible vocation -- explores the sculptural use of glass. Participants begin with simple flowers to gain correct hand techniques. Next, orchids and bees are taught and practiced. The instructor customizes the workshop to participants’ interests. Clear and colorful borosilicate glass is used. All materials and equipment are provided.
Spring Glassblowing
This workshop -- ideal for beginner to intermediate students -- is a hands-on celebration of spring. The class begins with making clear and colored glass leaves, flower buds and flowers. These pieces can be integrated into jewelry or placed into sculptural environments. Next, items such as glass branches, lady bugs and snails are practiced. The workshop focuses on clear and colored borosilicate use but colorful Italian Moretti glass is used on some pieces. All materials and equipment are provided.
