Women’s Head Soccer Coach Wally Maines received an associate degree from Camden County College in 1995 and a bachelor’s degree from Thomas Edison State College in 2004. He is pursuing a master’s degree in education at Wilmington University.
The Millville High School graduate also competed for the men’s soccer program at Gloucester County College in fall 1994. That year, GCC qualified for the NJCAA National Tournament and finished the season ranked eighth in Division III. Coach Maines played under former GCC head coach David Jones, who now serves in the same capacity at Temple University.
“I feel very lucky and thankful that I have been named the head women's soccer coach at Salem Community College,” said Wally. “It has been a dream of mine to be a college-level head coach since I began my coaching career some 16 years ago. Leading the women's soccer program is the actualization of that dream.”
Previously, Wally served in a variety of roles with the Millville High School boys’ soccer program. During a tenure that spanned 10 seasons, he served as a freshman, junior varsity and varsity coach. For the last two seasons, he served as the assistant head coach for the varsity program. In addition to the high school, Coach Maines has been involved in many levels of the Millville Youth Soccer League as a coach, trainer and referee.
In addition to his coaching duties, Wally is a full-time paramedic for Underwood Memorial Hospital, stationed primarily in Salem County. He also serves as a CESTA EMT class instructor for the Millville Rescue Squad.
Wally is the father of four daughters: Loren, 9; Ana, 6; Abbey, 5; and Lily, 3.
